Fresh Thailand Jasmin rice has stopped coming. All we have in the asian shops are "old" expired rice (which is still edible but hard).
I've had trouble finding many things for years, as is there quite simply less choice. Small country syndrome. I've wandered around local supermarkets bored, looking for something else. Once the Coop had bacon and egg sandwiches. No more. I once contacted Findus directly to see if they would supply more fish products. That worked for a while. When I visit the UK, I tell my family to leave me in the local supermarket for a while, marvelling at the choice.
Thanks for sharing. It's always fun to visit supermarkets in different countries. I'm curious - Do you think that there is a faster turnover of products in stores now than in the past? Or is it simply that there are less choices?
The lack of choice could be Swiss. At voting time, for example, they tend to stick to the Status Quo. A restaurant in Farmerville once tried to offer up-market, alternative food. They failed and went back to e.g. cordon bleu and pomme frites - typical Swiss food. Swiss shops - 99% the same produce. Sandwiches - for years (and still in many places) - ham, egg, salami, tuna. Very little else. So, maybe the customers do not like variety, which is why there is little choice.
I used to work in an office very near to a Migros, no other shop nearby except for an overly expensive snack shop for passing tourists. Going into the Migros to get a sandwich for lunch was a truly depressing experience. As you wrote below: ham, egg, salami, tuna.
I visited a Migros recently and it was a bit better. Manor sandwiches are good, but an M&S range of sarnies would be like heaven!
The underlying reason is very simple.
Swiss people eat to live and not live to eat.
The food here is very boring (and super expensive).
Having said that, if we compare the european and american cuisine (if we dare call them cuisine) pales in comparison to the food available in Asia and Arab countries.
I have learned to accept this or just make my own lunch.
A bunch of computer components, especially graphics cards. So it has been hard to replace some broken family computers.
New video cards for pc is non existent, new mining machines too, ps5 is now a present my many companies if you use their service because it is impossible to buy for consumer but thous companies manage to go around and get them, galaxus even had youtube add about ps5 and it was a lie, there is no eve a date then they are available. Many scam on kicktarter now use this excuse for 2 years going unnoticed. Overall prices for new ingredients needed to build your own pc are now hard to buy and the price is doubled or so, same for electronic music instruments or video equipment
