Blue bridges Previous Next Stone bridge in the Verzasca valley in canton Ticino (UNHCR/Alexandre Zveiger) For World Refugee Day on June 20, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees engaged Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter to bathe four well-known Swiss bridges in blue light. The colour of peace is intended to highlight solidarity with refugees and displaced people, and act as a reminder that there are still 20 million people around the world fleeing violence and persecution.
