Seit heute verbindet auf dem Bürgenstock eine 30 Meter lange Hängebrücke zwei auf unterschiedlicher Höhe bestehende Wanderwege. Einer der beiden Wege führt direkt ins neue Resort.
Die Gemeinden Ennetbürgen und Stansstad haben in den vergangenen Jahren zusammen mit den Nidwaldner Wanderwegen Massnahmen erarbeitet, mit denen das Wanderwegangebot am Bürgenberg verbessert und ergänzt werden sollte.
Zwischen zwei Betonfundamenten wurden starke Drahtseile gespannt, auf die eine Konstruktion aus Gitterrost-Tritten und Holzstegen aufgebaut wurde. Das Lärchenholz stellt einen Bezug her zum nahen Wald. Die Konstruktion wurde so gewählt, dass das Wasser überall ablaufen kann. Das Gefälle zwischen den beiden Endpunkten beträgt etwa zehn Meter, weshalb die Konstruktion nicht als Treppe und nicht als konventioneller Hängesteg gebaut wurde.
Die kürzlich eröffneten vier Hotels und 12 Restaurants des Bürgenstock Resort erreichen man mit dem Schiff, mit der Bürgenstock Stansseilbahn, mit dem Postauto oder dem Auto und zu Fuss via Ennetbürgen-Honegg.
