Die beiden kennen sich gut, während zwei Jahren waren sie Teamkollegen und lernten sich so noch besser kennen als zuvor. Beide stammen aus dem Kanton Bern und beide sind sich einig: "Das war ein grossartiger Tag für den Schweizer Motorsport!"
Regenrennen mag Dominique Aegerter eigentlich nicht. Nach seinem 3. Quali-Rang am Samstag hatte er auf trockene Verhältnisse gehofft. «Als ich Sonntagmorgen aufgestanden bin und das Wetter gesehen habe, dachte ich: ‹Nein, es läuft schon wieder gegen uns.» Die Bedingungen waren schwierig: «Es war ein enormes Konzentrationsrennen. Man hatte im Regen nur wenig Haftung und musste fein fahren.» Nach seinem grossen Sieg twitterte er: «Dominque Aegerter geht übers Wasser. Meisterklasse.»
Auch Tom Lüthi sprach von einem richtig guten Tag – der allerdings schlecht begonnen hatte. Im Warm-up rutschte er von der Strecke und hatte in der Anfangsphase des Rennens deshalb Mühe seinen Rhythmus zu finden. Nach Franco Morbidellis Sturz konnte Lüthi dessen zweite Position erben und zu Aegerter aufschliessen.
Einen Schweizer Doppelsieg hat es in der Geschichte des internationalem Motorradrennsports noch nie gegeben.
