The English Department aims to daily publish the eight main stories out of Switzerland. These can be picked up by the other languages. The goal of our NIBs is to increase reach and traffic.

Length

1000-2000 characters

Criteria 

Choose the latest daily news on Switzerland that resonate with an international audience.

The news item must be linked to one of our beats.

Source: SDA, SRG, Bloomberg, Reuters (what about press pickups from Swiss press or federal council directly?)

Structure

Lead must answer the W questions (who, what, where, when, why) and quote the source.

Second paragraph: back up quote

Third paragraph: Context/background. Answers the question: Why are

we writing this? Why is this relevant?
