Paléo Festival a “dream” despite glitches
The 34th Paléo Festival ended in Nyon on Sunday, after a week with a "dream" musical line-up, organisers said.
Among the big name acts appearing were French singer-songwriter Francis Cabrel, multi-platinum artist Tracy Chapman and Scottish pop act Franz Ferdinand.
The Young Gods and singer Sophie Hunger were among the top Swiss acts.
The programme attracted around 230,000 festival-goers whose enthusiasm was undaunted when adverse weather turned parts of the site into a mud bath.
When organisers received a warning of strong winds on Thursday, a crisis team had to evaluate whether it was safe to continue and was able to secure the various tents and fittings.
Festival president Daniel Rossellat said “we managed well, the festival was saved”, but he admitted there were “several small flaws to fix”, particularly in relation to the environmental impact.
