Patricia Kopatchinskaja was born in Moldavia. She studied composition and the violin in Vienna and Berne before winning first prize in the International Henryk Szering Competition (2000), followed two years later by the Crédit Suisse Group Young Artist Award. 2006 Förderpreis Deutschlandfunk. Patricia Kopatchinskaja is also a composer, and especially enjoys presenting and recording the contemporary repertoire. Fazil Say, piano: see link below.
