There is war in Europe. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused the biggest refugee crisis since the second world war, and shaken global security. In these three episodes, Inside Geneva finds out about the challenges facing humanitarian workers in Ukraine, asks Russian human rights defenders what the world can do to support them, and goes behind the scenes at the ICRC’s Central Tracing Agency, where the Red Cross connects prisoners of war with their worried families.
With Volker Türk now in Geneva as the new UN Human Rights Commissioner, Inside Geneva talks to former commissioner Zeid Ra’ad al Hussein about the challenges of what some call the UN’s toughest job. And in this episode we ask leading rights groups Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International what they want from the world’s human rights chief, and what they thought of the last one, Michelle Bachelet.

What should we do about ‘killer robots’? Who is responsible for a weapon that acts alone? Imogen Foulkes talks to those leading the campaign to ban them, and to the guardian of the Geneva conventions, the International Committee of the Red Cross.
