Ammann jumps for joy
The Swiss ski jumper, Simon Ammann, celebrated a second-place finish at this weekend's World Cup contest in Engelberg.
The 20-year-old from St Gallen was beaten into second place by Poland’s Adam Malysz, who clocked up a combined distance of 281.7 metres.
Sunday’s podium finish marked the end of an astonishing weekend for the Swiss star, who just 24 hours earlier had clocked up the best performance of his career by finishing seventh.
Ammann first came to the attention of the domestic ski jumping world four years ago, when at the age of 16 he took 15th place in Oberstdorf.
Switzerland’s Andreas Küttel was unable to match Ammann’s performance and had to settle instead for a 17th-placed finish.
