Bossert back in the swing

Swiss golf pro André Bossert appears to have got his season back on track after finishing third at the Hamburg Challenge tournament.

The Hamburg event is the most important stop-off on the Challenge Tour and Bossert’s success there has dramatically enhanced his chances of winning a place on next season’s European PGA Tour.

As well as earning him more than 13,563 euros (SFr 20,425), Bossert’s performance (which included rounds of 68, 66, 69 and 67) saw him climb 34 places to 24th in the Challenge Tour rankings.

The top 15 in the final rankings are given places on the continent’s top circuit.

Bossert’s third place finish marked his best performance this season. Having begun well with three top 12 places in a row, the Swiss number two went on to miss six of his next eight cuts.

“I have never played four rounds at such a high level,” Bossert beamed after his Hamburg success. “The most important tournaments of the season all come thick and fast now, so this third place finish came at just the right moment.”

On Tuesday Bossert is travelling to England where he is due to compete in the European Challenge Tour Championship, before heading to Moscow for the Russian Open.
