Chairlift travels back to a poor past
Today Switzerland is a country many people would like to migrate to. One hundred years ago thousands of Swiss had to leave their country behind, in search of a better life overseas. Like a group of 80 people from one mountain village, who left all at once.

The 80 villagers from Visperterminen, in canton Valais, were headed to the Americas. Today’s residents of the village are commemorating the migrants’ journey with an open-air performance on and around an illuminated chairlift. (SF/swissinfo.ch)
