Efficient Federer moves to finals in Germany
Andreas Seppi provided little resistance against Roger Federer, who breezed by the Italian and into the finals at the Hamburg Masters tennis tournament in Germany.
The Swiss tennis ace recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory on Saturday afternoon over the world’s 43rd-ranked player, who appeared in a career-best showing.
“It was quite a long first set and I created a lot of opportunities which wore him down for the second,” said Federer after the rain-hit match.
He will face Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who defeated Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, in Sunday’s final.
Federer beat Nadal 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 in last year’s final on the clay court in Hamburg but has struggled against the 21-year-old so far this year.
