FC Basel move on in Champions League
Swiss champions FC Basel have qualified for the third round of Europe's football Champions League competition.
They won Wednesday’s second round return match against Sweden’s top team Gothenburg 4-2 (5-3 on aggregate) and will face Vitória Guimarães of Portugal next week.
Basel came back from 1-2 behind after less than an hour of play at the St Jakob’s Park stadium with two goals by Ergic and one by Chipperfield.
The first match a week ago in Sweden ended 1-1.
Basel have twice before made it to the main round of the Champions League.
