Switzerland's national exhibition, Expo.02, has come up with innovative ways to visit its sites, from sky cruises to catamaran boats.

Adventurous visitors can get a bird’s eye view of the three lakes region in a Zeppelin airship, which promises to offer not only stunning views of the region but also a pampering experience, with champagne and deluxe seating on board.

The Skyship 600 seats a maximum of 12 passengers, who can also opt to have supper and video and audio presentations on board, or just watch the world slip by through panoramic windows.

Half a dozen catamaran passenger boats built especially for the exhibition will speed between the Expo towns; Biel, Neuchâtel, Murten and Yverdon-les-Bains.

They can travel up to 50 kilometres an hour and journey times between the towns range between 40 and 80 minutes.

Bike and skate

For those who prefer the great outdoors, bikes and inline skates can be hired out, with specially designed routes linking the four Expo towns of Murten, Biel, Neuchâtel and Yverdon-les-Bains.

Cyclists can take advantage of a 170-kilometre network of cycling paths around the three lakes. Skaters can whiz around 90-kilometres of the route, leading to all exhibition sites except for Yverdon-les-Bains.

The national exhibition opens on May 15 and runs until October 20.
