Hingis romps to third successive title
Switzerland's Martina Hingis has won her third singles title in a row after completing an easy win over Anna Kournikova in the final of Moscow's Kremlin Cup.
It took the world number one just three quarters of an hour to secure the straight sets (6-3, 6-1) victory over her doubles partner.
Kournikova, who is yet to win a singles title on the tour, stayed in contention for the first six games of the match. But despite strong support from the Russian crowd she was unable to forge ahead.
As Hingis upped the pressure, Kournikova’s game weakened with the Russian making more than 40 unforced errors throughout the match.
Hingis has now won 12 singles matches in a row, with her latest victory in Moscow following title triumphs in Filderstadt and Kloten.
