More success for women skiers in Austria
Swiss skier Martina Schild has come joint third in the World Cup super-G at the Austrian resort of Haus Im Ennstal.
Her result follows on from Nadja Kamer’s second in the downhill on Saturday, which was Kamer’s first World Cup podium place of her career.
The super-G was won by the American Lindsey Vonn, with Sweden’s Anja Paerson second, 0.53 seconds behind.
Third was shared by Italy’s Nadia Fanchini and Schild, both 0.85 seconds behind. “I wasn’t very happy with my downhill results, but now I am satisfied with this podium place. The Olympics are a big goal, I hope I’m on the right track,” Schild said.
A further three Swiss women were in the top ten – Andrea Dettling in sixth, Kamer in seventh and Nadia Styger in ninth.
Vonn’s win completes a hat-trick over the weekend, with three wins in three days.
