Schwaller brothers curl together

Swiss curling star Christof Schwaller has agreed to join up with his younger brother Andreas at Biel-Touring club, a month after helping the side secure a place at next year's Winter Olympics.

The 35-year-old from Solothurn has decided to leave his former club St Moritz after excelling during his temporary spell with Biel at the world championships in Lausanne. As well as the berth at the Winter Olympics, Schwaller helped steer Biel towards the silver medal at the April tournament, acting as skip in the last five matches.

Four years older than Andreas, Christof is particularly valued for his all-round technical ability and for the experience that he has acquired in three world championships.

Biel’s next major test before the Olympics will come in December with the European championships in Finland. At Salt Lake City, the team will have the difficult challenge of defending the Olympic gold medal won for Switzerland in 1998 by the Lausanne team of Patrick Hürlimann.
