Swiss Salt Lake City medals
Four years ago the Swiss team won 11 medals at the Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City in Utah.
Apart from the golds won by ski jumper Simon Ammann and snowboarder Philipp Schoch, nine other athletes also struck it lucky in 2002.
The games got off to a flying start in the United States after Ammann won double gold in the ski jump. Another gold medal followed – from Schoch in the parallel giant slalom event.
The Swiss women’s curling team – Luzia Ebnöther, Mirjam Ott, Tanya Frei and Laurence Bidaud – gained a silver medal, as did Christian Reich and Steve Anderhub in the two-man bobsleigh.
In skiing, bronze medals went to Fabienne Reuteler in the women’s halfpipe event, Sonja Nef in the giant slalom and to Andrea Huber, Laurence Rochat, Brigitte Albrecht and Natascia Leonardi in the women’s cross-country relay.
Bronze also went to Andreas and Christof Schwaller, Damien Grichting and Markus Eggler in the men’s curling competition, Gregor Stähli for the bob skeleton and to Martin Annen and Beat Hefti for the two-man bob race.
