Swiss victory in snowboard halfpipe
Markus Keller of Switzerland won a men's World Cup snowboard halfpipe on Saturday while Norway's Kjersti Buaas took the women's event with her first win of the season.
Keller beat Louie Vito of the United States for his first win in only his second event of the campaign at La Molina in the Spanish Pyrenees. Vito’s teammate, Steven Fisher, took third.
Ryoh Aono of Japan, who didn’t compete, leads the halfpipe standings with 2,600 points going into next week’s season finale at Valmalenco, Italy.
Japan’s Kazuumi Fujita is next with 1,850 points. Mathieu Crepel of France and Japan’s Kohdai Watanabe still have a chance at taking the halfpipe title.
