Leading a stellar performance by the Swiss women’s team, Fabienne Suter won the World Cup Super G event in Austria on Sunday.

Suter covered the tricky course at Bad Kleinkirchheim in one minute 9.89 seconds, ahead of Slovenia’s Tina Maze. It was Suter’s first victory in the Super G in nearly three years.
Fränzi Aufdenblatten, Lara Gut and Dominique Gisin finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Topping off a great weekend for Switzerland’s women skiers, Sabrina Windmüller won the World Cup ski jump event at Hinterzarten in Germany on Sunday.
And Switzerland’s Dario Cologna won the men’s World Cup cross country event for the third time in Italy on Sunday, finishing one minute and two seconds ahead of Sweden’s Marcus Hellner at the end of the eight-stage, 110-kilometre course.
But the Swiss men’s team failed to impress at home as Austria’s Marcel Hirscher finished first in both the World Cup giant slalom and slalom events held at Adelboden in canton Bern over the weekend.
Switzerland’s Carlo Janka finished 12th in the giant slalom on Saturday, ahead of veteran Didier Cuche in 16th place. Reto Schmidiger was the best of the Swiss on Sunday, finishing 16th in the slalom.
