Police, protesters clash in Georgia’s Tbilisi, Russia’s TASS agency reports
(Reuters) – Clashes have started in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi between police and protesters opposing the results of the country’s recent parliamentary election, Russia’s TASS state news agency reported on Tuesday.
TASS reported from the scene that police were trying to disperse the protesters, with the demonstrators resisting.
Police used tear gas and stones were being thrown at police, according to the report, which Reuters could not independently verify.
There was no immediate official statement from Georgian authorities.
