Influenza – is it ethical to spread the H5N1 formula?
The planned publication of avian flu research papers has sparked global controversy. In response, the Geneva-based World Health Organization (WHO) recently hosted a meeting of international scientists and health specialists.
They agreed that it would be best to delay research on laboratory-modified H5N1 viruses lest it get into the wrong hands. At the same time, they say the research is essential for protecting public health.
