Elite universities at the click of a mouse
Coursera is currently the most advanced platform for the latest studying trend, MOOCs - or Massive Open Online Courses. It was created to unite the world’s most prestigious schools on the same platform.
Lausanne’s Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) is the only institution in continental Europe to be involved for now (Edinburgh is also participating). Last year around 53,000 students registered for the EPFL course on the Scala programming language and 10,000 completed it. By the end of the year, the EPFL wants to be able to offer at least ten courses. (RTS/swissinfo.ch)
