Youth strikes for climate

Climate strike in Bern
For the first time, students went on strike for climate in several Swiss cities on a Friday afternoon. swissinfo.ch

Following the example of Greta Thunberg, Swiss students and pupils demonstrated against climate change in several big cities on the same day. The sixteen-year-old Swedish teenager has been cutting classes every Friday since August to protest in front of the parliament in Stockholm. On January 18, several thousand teenagers did the same all over Switzerland, from Geneva to Chur.

We joined their strike in Bern for a Facebook live and asked some of them to explain their motives, their worries and their opinions about climate change. The protest started on Weisenhausplatz, then taken across the old city up to the Federal Palace and finally towards the train station.
