Stress and burnout – is our job taking up too much space?
According to the survey "How are you, Switzerland?" conducted by gfs.bern on behalf of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), SWI swissinfo.ch's parent company, 17% of the respondents have already suffered from burnout, while 25% consider themselves at risk. Women as well as men, managers as well as regular employees, young as well as elderly people – anyone can be affected. According to scientific figures, hundreds of thousands of people in Switzerland are at risk of burnout. This is also in line with the results of the nationwide SBC survey “How are you, Switzerland?”, which was published in August.
But why are French-speaking Swiss, women and people with low incomes significantly more affected? What are the consequences of permanent stress and how can we find a way to deal with it?
