In the news: water above, impunctuality, explosive garbage, repeat vote?

A new study reveals that distant planets may hold far more water than previously believed, though it’s hidden deep below the surface. Scientists had assumed water was mostly found on planetary surfaces, but research from ETH Zurich challenges this view. The findings were published Tuesday in Nature Astronomy.

Zurich Airport reports poor summer 2024 punctuality, citing storms and geopolitical tensions. SWISS warns passengers of delays in compensation processing due to high demand.

A man in Geneva was injured when a rubbish bag exploded as he picked it up Tuesday morning. Authorities are investigating the incident, suspecting it may have been a small homemade bomb.

The Federal Court will decide if the 2022 Swiss vote to raise the women’s retirement age from 64 to 65 should be repeated. The women’s section of the left-wing Social Democratic Party and the Swiss Greens both filed complaints. They are concerrned the vote was swayed by incorrect government pension forecasts.
