How are three Swiss families who left Switzerland for Rwanda, Spain and Germany coping in their new lives?
Auf und davon (Up and Away), a documentary series made by the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, SWI swissinfo.ch’s parent company, follows the Schommers, the Waldburgers and the Caboussats over six episodes during the first months of their new lives in a new country.
In each episode, viewers learn about the latest challenges and surprises facing the three sets of emigrants: Dianne and Marco Schommer from canton Solothurn want to open a fitness club in Rwanda; Corinne and Ralf Waldburger are moving from Lake Constance to the Costa Blanca to run a dog hotel; and the Caboussat family are heading from Emmental to Germany to convert an old water tower on the North Sea into a 40-metre high café.
In the second episode of this series, the Schommers are looking for premises for their gym in Rwanda, but all the offers are too expensive. The Waldburgers are settling into their new life in Spain, and on the North Sea the Caboussat family are getting closer to one another: their new flat is much smaller than their home in Emmental.
