More Swiss move abroad
The number of Swiss living abroad has risen above the 600,000 mark for the first time since records began.
According to figures provided by the Swiss foreign ministry, this is an increase of 2.3 per cent compared with last year.
The latest figures show that around 60 per cent of the 612,562 registered Swiss expatriates have made their home in the European Union.
The most popular country for expatriates is France, which is home to some 163,000 Swiss, followed by Germany with 70,000 Swiss and Italy, where around 45,000 expatriates live.
With 71,000 Swiss expatriates, the United States is the most popular country outside the EU, followed by Canada with 36,000 Swiss and Australia with 20,000.
More than 70 per cent of the Swiss living abroad have dual citizenship. Around two thirds of Swiss abroad are women and 23 per cent are under 18 years old.
Only 19 per cent of Swiss expatriates have registered to vote back home.

The number of Swiss abroad has increased by 13,628, or 2.3 per cent, compared with last year.
Since 1990 this figure has risen by 157,000, which is a 25 per cent increase.
Only around 90,000 Swiss are registered to vote back home.
