All night long with the American Embassy
The American embassy in Bern and its ambassador, Suzi LeVine, are hosting an overnight gathering attended by a mix of American expats and Swiss locals including business and political leaders.
The atmosphere before the first results come in is cheerful and anticipatory, with a long line of people waiting to hear speeches and mingle.
In her first remarks to the crowd, LeVine said she remembers how “celebratory, nerve-wracking and energizing” it was to be in Chicago for both elections of Barack Obama.
“We never dreamed we would be here doing this in Switzerland this time around.”
