What role for the state in childcare?
Under a Swiss government proposal the state is to play a bigger role in boosting childcare facilities. What kind of role should the state have in family matters such as childcare, or should such issues be left to individual households?
In Switzerland, proponents argue that additional state support will boost the economy by allowing women to advance their careers. Those against favour a more traditional family model, with mothers staying at home, especially when their children are young.
