Swiss stamp auction includes some of the rarest objects in the world
Stamp collectors are calling it a once-in-a-century event: the rare and historic ‘Ticino’ collection is up for sale at the Rapp auction house in St Gallen. The stamps date from 1843 to 1854, and include world rarities worth millions of francs. Only a few stamps from the 19th century have survived in a suitable condition for trading or investment.
