Fundada em 1912, a fábrica de açúcar de Aarberg, no cantão de Berna, é a maior fábrica de açúcar da Suíça. Durante a época de colheita da beterraba, cerca de 10.000 toneladas são transportadas para cá todos os dias de todo o país. Faça uma visita guiada.

Thomas Kern nasceu na Suíça em 1965. Após se formar como fotógrafo em Zurique, começou a trabalhar como fotojornalista em 1989. Fundou a agência Lookat Photos em 1990. Kern ganhou duas vezes o prêmio World Press Award e recebeu várias bolsas de pesquisa na Suíça. Seu trabalho é tema de exposições e suas imagens encontram-se em várias coleções.
