Crossair plane slides off runway in Dresden
The Swiss regional airline, Crossair, says one of its airliners had to abort a take-off in Germany on Monday evening, and slid off the runway. No one was injured.
A Crossair spokesman in Basel said the Saab 2000, with 18 people and four crew members on board, applied its brakes while cruising down the runway at 140 kilometres per hour.
The plane, which was due to fly from Dresden to Zurich, went off the runway, and hit a lighting beacon. The runway was blocked for two hours after the incident.
Burst tyres on the plane caused the accident, the Crossair spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.
It was the latest in a series of accidents which have beset the airline this year.
Ten people were killed in January when a Crossair plane crashed shortly after taking off from Zurich airport on its way to Dresden.
