Guidelines and terms of use “dialogue”

Guidelines and Terms of Use for «dialogue», a service of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC).

Welcome, dear «dialogue» user.

We are happy that you have decided to engage on our platforms and would like to share some important points with you:

«dialogue»

  • is a digital service that connects people from all four language regions of Switzerland, as well as Swiss abroad
  • enables them to exchange their views without language barriers and learn more about the different ways people see things in other parts of the country
  • is the first nationwide journalistic service supported by the units of the SBC: Swiss public television and radio RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI swissinfo.ch.

Keep it relevant, keep it civil. We welcome constructive interactions without offensive language and aim to create a space of tolerance and respect for other views. Please base your arguments on facts, avoid generalisations, allegations and refrain from attacking others personally. We ask you to interact with other users like you would in a face-to-face conversation.

Your comments will be reviewed by an editorial team and translated into all national languages and to English with the help of artificial intelligence. The reviewing process may take several hours. If your comment is rejected, you will be notified via the email address you provided when you registered for «dialogue». We cannot engage in detailed correspondence about published or rejected comments. No comments will be reviewed during out of office hours.

Your comments are important to us. They give us ideas for stories, show us your expertise, give feedback on possible errors or tell us if we overlook an issue in our reporting. Our aim is to engage with you. We want to give you, our «dialogue» users, a voice on our platforms and involve you in our journalistic work process from the beginning.

Publication is not guaranteed. In the event of repeated netiquette violations, the user may be blocked from accessing “dialogue”.

We will not open a debate on every possible topic. We focus on selected topics to be able to moderate the discussion carefully. We do so to foster a constructive debate on the “dialogue” platforms.

Our community management is constantly evolving. We always aim to create a space for constructive, goal-oriented and factual discussions. This is why we would be happy to receive your suggestions for improvement, have discussions about our processes and test a range of models.
