It takes discipline, stamina, patience and warm clothes to take pictures like the ones taken by Swiss photographer Alessandro Della Bella. They show mountains and cities in a spectacular light.

The pictures in his book, Helvetia by Night, are the result of years of experiments with long and multiple exposure techniques. Having worked for the Zurich-based Keystone agency from 2005 to 2013, he is now a freelancer.
