Romantic. Pianist Oliver Schnyder from the Swiss midlands contributes a solo recital album to Schumann's bicentenary. It comprises the early Abegg-Variations, Davidsbündlertänze and late period works such as Gesänge der Frühe and the Ghost Variations. Nowadays much emphasis is placed on rehabilitation of Schumann's late works which fall into the period when he had renounced life in deep depression. That these creations are not just output of a clouded mind. Especially on this music Schnyder is able to unfold fascinating soundscapes which glint in stillness and move the listener's heart.
