The “Tell Project”

In an ironic take on today’s media-dominated society, two Swiss artists, Johannes M Hedinger and Marcus Gossolt, better known as “Com & Com”, created a work entitled “C-Files: Tell Saga”.

They drew inspiration from the Swiss myth and the X-Files television series to produce their own irreverent definition of Swiss national identity. The work of art is no more than a short trailer for a big-budget film on Tell that will never be shown in cinemas, because it was never made. It is a sham highlighting the power of marketing.

Later, the pair turned to the stage, producing a play entitled “Tell Star”, modelled on a 1980s television quiz show. Here again, the message is clear: “The appearance justifies the means.”
