How can Swiss biodiversity be protected?
In a context of dwindling biodiversity, Swiss voters are set to decide on a people’s initiative calling for better protection of species and ecosystems in the country. Have your say on the September 22 vote here.
The “biodiversity initiative”, launched by conservationists and environmental groups, calls for more funding and more protected areas in Switzerland.
The backers of the initiative say it’s necessary to act now to prevent the extinction of numerous species, which would lead to huge costs. Opponents say the proposal is extreme and inefficient.

Countless civilisations have died out thinking they could compete with culture. Culture here means development.
Dear neighbouring farmer, I'm always surprised when I pass by certain fields and see cans and all kinds of rubbish staining the monocultures. It's all very well to have bees foraging and to take a swipe at diets that refuse to eat meat. After all, everyone does what they like. That must be the worry: I do what I want and to hell with consciences and consequences.
L’éternel débat entre la technologie et la nature, à ce jeux là, c’est de toute façon la nature qui aura son dernier mot.
Nmbe de civilisation se sont éteintes en pensant rivaliser avec la culture. Culture est ici à prendre au sens de développement.
Cher voisin paysan, c’est toujours avec surprise que je passe près de certains champs en observant canettes, détritus de toute sortes qui maculent des monocultures. Certes peut bien avoir des abeilles qui butinent et faire une vindicte sur les modes d’alimentation qui refuse de manger de la viande. Après tout, chacun fait ce qui lui plaît. Ça doit être ça le souci: je fais ce que je veux et au diable les consciences et conséquences.
I live near a dairy farm. I've noticed that there's a lot of biodiversity. Vegetable gardens, field flowers, ants, flies, bees and horseflies. So many little flowers along the paths. Fruit trees in bloom or laden with fruit, little calves, goats and sheep frolicking about. I drink the wonderful milk produced on this farm.
What worries me, however, is the increasingly eco-minded attitude of certain researchers at Agroscope, who know nothing about practical agriculture or consumer needs. These dubious characters are harmful to agriculture and are seeking to destroy our farming industry.
Promoting new crops is one thing, but criticising consumers who eat beef produced in our pastures is another. To eat meat or not to eat meat? A researcher, sitting quietly in his office, tempered or cooled as he likes, is not the same as a bricklayer or a farmer, but real workers need animal proteins. However, we need to give priority to meat from grassland and reduce meat from cereals, i.e. pigs and poultry. Biodiversity does not include the concreting over of Swiss soil to accommodate unnecessary immigration. It's a good thing that real farmers don't have the time to react against these left-wing ideas and fundamentalist ecologists, otherwise a strong reaction would do a lot of damage.
J'habite proche d'une ferme laitière. Je constate qu'il y a beaucoup de biodiversité. Jardins potagers, fleurs des champs, fourmis, mouches, abeilles et taons. Que de petites fleurs au bords des chemins. Les fruitiers en fleurs ou chargés de fruits, les petits veaux , chèvres et moutons qui gambadent. Je bois ce merveilleux lait produit sur cette ferme.
Je m'inquiète par contre de l'esprit toujours plus écolos , de certains chercheurs d'Agroscope, ne connaissant rien de l'agriculture pratique, des besoins des consommateurs, Ces douteux personnages sont nocifs pour l'agriculture et cherchent à anéantir notre agriculture.
Promouvoir de nouvelles cultures , oui, mais critiquer les consommateurs qui consomment de la viande bovine produite dans nos pâturages , n'est pas admissible. Manger de la viande ou non ? Un chercheur , tranquille dans son bureau , tempéré ou refroidi à souhait, n'est pas à comparer avec un maçon, paysan, soit, les vrais travailleurs ont besoins de protéines animales. Toutefois, il est nécessaire de privilégier la viande provenant d'herbages, et diminuer celle provenant de céréales , soit porcs et volailles. Dans la biodiversité, on ne parle pas du bétonnages du sol suisse, pour accueillir de l'immigration inutile. Heureusement que les vrais paysans, n'ont pas le temps nécessaire pour réagir contre ces idées de gauche et d'écolos fondamentalistes, sans cela une forte réaction ferait des dégâts .

En 2021, la campagne sur les initiatives contre les pesticides s'était enflammé, donnant lieu à de vives tensions entre monde agricole et écologistes. On the contrary, it's a unique opportunity to break away from the religion of growth, "development", job creation and demography that is bleeding not only Switzerland but the entire planet to death.
A single word, a single objective, a single salvation SOBRIETE, limitation, weighting and survival of ALL SPECIES.
The counter-example of what needs to be done is Bulle and the excessive 'concreting' in the sacred name of the economy and full employment.
This text is not extreme, it is an invitation to a general awareness of human and planetary finitude.
En aucun cas nous pouvons parler de texte "extrême", bien au contraire c'est une opportunité unique pour sortir de la religion de la croissance, du "développement", de la création d'emplois, de la démographie qui saigne à mort non seulement la Suisse mais la planète toute entière.
Un seul mot, un seul objectif, une seule planche de salut SOBRIETE, limitation, pondération et survie de TOUTES LES ESPECES.
Le contre exemple de ce qu'il faut faire c'est Bulle et la "bétonisation" à outrance au nom sacré de l'économie et du plein emploi.
Ce texte ne pas extrême, il est une invitation à une prise de conscience généralisée de la finitude, humaine et planétaire.
